To qualify for CEQAQ accreditation, an institution or entity must satisfy minimum requirements.
Educational Program Readiness
To be eligible, a provider must offer at least one educational program that:
- Includes a minimum of 50 instructional hours, delivered in person, online, or via blended modalities
- Is designed for learners who have completed high school or equivalent, or who have relevant professional or experiential background
Financial Capacity and Sustainability
The provider must demonstrate sufficient financial resources to deliver educational services without disruption.
Legal and Regulatory Standing
The provider must be legally authorized to operate in its jurisdiction(s) of delivery and must comply with relevant regulations, including those related to consumer protection, advertising and marketing, employment standards, accessibility, and data privacy. Providers must disclose any current or past regulatory actions, sanctions, or license revocations, and CEQAC reserves the right to verify such disclosures.
Organizational Structure and Ethics
The provider must operate under a recognized business structure with transparent governance and demonstrate ethical leadership.
The provider must disclose all ownership and governance structures, including any controlling entities or affiliate organizations.
CEQAC requires all applicants to demonstrate integrity and professionalism. The provider’s owners, directors, and key leadership must:
- Not be under current investigation or sanction by a recognized regulatory, accrediting, or consumer protection authority
- Not have managed or owned an educational entity that was closed, debarred, or bankrupt to the detriment of learners
- Disclose any past or pending legal or enforcement actions relevant to the operation of educational programs.
CEQAC may conduct background checks or reputational reviews as part of its eligibility determination.
Readiness Self-Assessment
Before submitting an application for CEQAC accreditation, non-institutional education providers must complete a Readiness Self-Assessment.
A well-considered readiness assessment strengthens the overall application and can streamline the accreditation process. It is particularly valuable for smaller, newer providers or those pursuing accreditation for the first time. The self-assessment helps determine whether essential foundational elements—such as legal registration, financial sustainability, and a clearly defined program structure—are in place. It also encourages providers to reflect on their current capacity, identify potential gaps, and prioritize improvements before proceeding with the formal application.
Shorter programs may be considered if part of a stackable credential pathway or clearly aligned with industry-recognized competencies.
